She is a contemporary metal artist and currently an Associate Professor at University of Wisconsin Stout. Here is a paragraph from her bio:
“Masako Onodera utilizes craft techniques in her art and connects the audience emotionally to the materials and practices employed. Her creations suggest an experience of the body altered by the tactile and visual characteristics of the object.”
Her work is displayed in the Vergette Gallery and it is open to public through next Friday, Mar. 3rd. There will be a closing reception at 5pm on Mar. 3rd and Masako will be there. Her talk will be at 7pm at the Guyon Auditorium in the library following the reception. This is free and open to the public as well.
Masako is also teaching a workshop on Mar. 3rd and 4th from 9am to 4pm each day. She will cover felting and applications of it in metalsmithing.
